The Law of Cause and Effect

The third law in The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra is the Law of Karma, also known as the law of cause and effect.

Most people know the saying, “You reap what you sow.” Karma relates to the action as well as the consequence of said action. The law of cause and effect is all about making all decisions consciously.

I eluded in my last post that what you give is what you will receive. That flows into karma because the decisions you make decide the consequences. If you are not making decisions consciously, you are subjecting yourself to unknown implications.

We have been conditioned so that many of our actions are unconscious. This soothes our ego’s need for predictable situations and outcomes.

Some people will walk through life wishing for happiness and peace, expecting it to happen. But when you’re on autopilot, you are open to cookie-cutter societal outcomes, receiving karma you may not necessarily want.

Returning to the law of pure potentiality, we must identify with our true selves. We are part of pure awareness, where anything is possible. Then, we must determine what we want to receive and give that to others as defined in the law of giving and receiving. Once we joyfully sow what we want to reap, the consequences of our actions match the trajectory or the life we want to live.

Become aware of the choices you make in your life and ask yourself the questions: “What are the consequences of this choice?” and “Will this choice bring happiness to me and/or others impacted?” Trust that your heart knows your path and will help you make the right decision.

How has karma affected your life?
