Equanimity, Thoughts

Cycle through knowledge, forgiveness and peace.

If you’ve ever read the bible or know some of the significant parts of the bible, you know that Jesus was the son of God who was sent on earth to show the world the way towards salvation. Jesus is known to have last words from the cross but one that I am relating to this post can be found in Luke 23:34. That passage, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

I remember when the ‘What would Jesus do?’ or ‘wwjd?’ bracelets were the rave. The bracelet are relavent to everyone simply because it makes the wearer stop and think about a situation prior to reacting. Jesus was significant because of the way he lived his life. He lived it in love. Love transcends all religions and walks of life. This is why it is important to reflect and gather thoughts before speaking so that the words are spoken from a place of love.

We are all a product of our environment. The range of knowledge only goes as far as the exposure to the world. I travel and love learning new things because I feel it is an important aspect of life. It’s a skill to be able to deal intelligently with a situation based on some knowledge instead of automatically react based on judgements and/or fear of the unknown.

If someone does something wrong to you, it should not be your place to judge their wrongdoing against anything you know because you, like them, are not perfect. Having the ability to forgive gives the forgiver peace and shows empathy. It is like Jesus’ last words from Luke 23:34. We must learn to forgive others for their actions no matter the knowledge we possess. We all have a story and a backstory that no one fully knows or understand. Though most people know right from wrong, something in their knowledge of the world at times makes them unable to resist making the wrong. We should seek to learn something new.

The more you know, the easier it is to forgive and the faster you are able to find peace. When you don’t know, don’t speculate. Choose kind words always and remember that we all have inner struggles that take us places we should not go. Don’t cloud your peace with an inability to learn and forgive.
