The fifth law, as stated in The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra, is the law of intention and desire. In this law, we have unlimited organizational power if we release our intentions and desires into pure potentiality.
Intention is the power behind our desire. Whatever we put our mind to is what is manifested in our lives. With this law, we must also practice the law of detachment. If we are attached to the outcome of our desire, we are not maintaining our focus on the present moment. Our future is created by the actions of our current moment, so to build our future, we need to do something at the moment, making our desires the steps to reach the future.
This sounds crazy, but it makes sense. I’ve read many self-help books stating that creating a habit (future desire) begins with an intention, and it takes conscious actions that will eventually become the desired habit. This law just means that whatever we want, we need to make conscious efforts in the present to obtain our desires.
Part of the conscious effort is sitting in silence to set the intentions and desires. Release the desire to the universe and detach from the outcome you think should happen. It’s conscious because sometimes we can unconsciously obsess about the future, bringing attention to the negatives we don’t want, negating our desires for ourselves.
I have experience with the negative thoughts. I was laid off from a company while pregnant with my son. I set the intention that I would find work because my desire was to ensure my family was taken care of. I would attempt to detach from the outcome, but the anxiety of being out of work would cause me to obsess about the outcome. It was an actual battle within my body. It took some time for me to find employment, but eventually, my desires were realized.
How can you experience this law in your life? How have worry and anxiety prevented you from participating in this law?
