Life’s an Adventure

Helen Keller said, “Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it.”

Oprah said, “The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.”

Eckhart Tolle said, “Life is an adventure, it’s not a package tour.”

We are programmed to see the world in a black and white fashion: we are born, we grow up, we work, we die. Most of our lives are spent working to earn money to pay to exist. I used to say that my coworkers were my family because I spent more time with them more than my actual family.

It’s an unfortunate fact that majority of us will have to work in order to experience the smallest of joys that life has to offer.

Life is an adventure. Yes, we have responsibilities, but we also have a responsibility to ourselves to reach for our goals and live the life of our dreams.

Dreams can mold to our circumstances. Just because I can’t buy a private jet or travel at will, doesn’t mean I can’t shot for my dream of seeing the world. I just have to do it via commercial flights and within my PTO schedule. This dream doesn’t look like my fantasy but it doesn’t have to because I am still making my dream come true.

An adventure involves stepping into the unknown, navigating unpredictability and embracing exploration. Sounds a lot like what we experience daily in life.

I want to challenge us all to stop treating life like it’s a packaged tour and treat it more like what it is: an experience with no guarantees. We laugh, we cry; things go right and things go wrong. What remains is the experience and the lessons woven into those moments.

Every day is a new start… a new adventure. What have you explored today?
