Equanimity

There’s only today

A thought came to me… it was more like an observation.

I spend so much time thinking about experiences from the vantage point of knowledge. Hindsight has always been 20/20 yet I try and make myself believe that I would have handled the past experiences differently somehow.

Our hindsight can’t change the past but, self-reflection can lead us to make better decisions for ourselves.

It’s easy to get caught up in the processes and/or boundaries we set for past conditions. I know I’ve felt like I had to stick to my process because if not, I felt like I was not being true to myself.

But change and growth is a constant in life. What worked for me in the past may not work for the future self that has the knowledge gained from experience.

It doesn’t serve us to be trapped within our old beliefs. Every day gives us an opportunity to do things differently. Just because you chose one thing yesterday, doesn’t mean you have to choose the same thing today.

In the same token, the things you desire, should be chosen every day. What we desire takes work and the work is compounded when we try and blend our yesterdays and tomorrows with today.

Stay present. Think about what you want in your life for today and let yesterday go and let tomorrow take care of itself.

What do you choose for today?
