Your unlimited potential

I’m reading this book titled Melanin Empath by Jade Asikiwe and a quote inspired me to write this post as a call to action.

It said “There’s no single place on Earth that is wealthier than a graveyard. The graveyard is filled with the unlimited potential of all the people who have been laid to rest without leaving their mark on the world.”

I know this same sentiment has been spoken by many different people in a variety of ways but this specific arrangement of words spoke to me.

There are songs, poems, books, etc. written about leaving your mark. So much focus in the world has been placed on separation and conformity that people reach the end of their lives and have regrets for all that they were unable to accomplish.

I’m questioned often about my choices in hobbies. I love doing many different things and I don’t feel pressured to just pick one or two activities for pleasure. Much of what I do, I do it because I love to learn but also I love to inspire others to do the things that they love with no regret.

For example, I write not for profit but to inspire. I have no desire to be famous but if it were to occur, it would be another experience I get to learn about and grow through. it’s because I put my thoughts down on paper that I am living my potential.

The most important thing about leaving your mark is how YOU want to be remembered. It’s about it having regret as it is defined by YOU.

The mark I want to leave is on the people I love. I want them to remember me for being my authentic self and walking in my truth. I want to be remembered as a light bringer and a love spreader. I know I won’t have regrets about my unlimited potential being wasted in the graveyard because I am living my potential every day.

The call to action is for you all to think about the mark you want to leave on the world and then live it! Don’t wait until it’s too late to dream or go after your passion. All we have is today. Even just one step towards living your potential can make a huge impact to your life.
