I just returned from a conference in work and one of the keynote speakers blew me away. If you get a moment, please look up Vernice Armour. You will not be disappointed, I promise.
During her presentation, she delivered many nuggets of wisdom but what I wanted to share is about being present.
She asked a simple question: How are you showing up at every moment?
So tell me, how are you showing up? How do you present yourself to the world?
There are times when emotions drive how we act and react to the world but emotions have a way of interfering with our goals and aspirations. They can push us forward or hold us back.
Are you living in the past? Are you living in your head?
or are you present and trying to make your future bright?
Being in our emotions can motivate us through the challenges so that we can get to that future we hope for.
How are you showing up? Are you constantly reliving the emotions of memories or are you focused on what is right in front of your face?
Being in our emotions, can keep us trapped in the past and at times, we are unable to see our future.
It’s important to check in with yourself often so that you can alway be able to answer those questions. Try not to be hard on yourself if you find you are not where you want to be. The point of life is to live and you are always going to be where you are supposed to be.
How will you show up?
