Love is considered one of elements humans need in order to survive.
Hugs have been scientifically proven to improve a person’s physical and mental health by triggering the release of the hormone, oxytocin. It lowers stress and the heart rate. It strengthens our immune system and increases serotonin, the “feel good” hormone.
Nurturing through love has also been proven to be an essential biological need as a crucial driver for human development, physical health, and psychological resilience.
The best part about love is that it’s Free!
Right now, the world is built on hate and fear. Hate is easy because it doesn’t require you give anything of yourself. You don’t have to see reality; you don’t have to be a critical thinker; you don’t have to speak truth; you don’t have to take accountability. With fear, it immobilizes you and prevents you from seeing clearly because the brain makes up all kinds of wild scenarios and accusations. Love struggles when hate is a primary driver. Hate and fear are the reason people are sick and suffering. It’s costing us greatly.
Imagine if we loved and nurtured everyone. I’ve seen it on smaller scales. I’ve seen parent love and nurture their children as well as put it back into the community and the people affected were healthier and happier.
Can you imagine all the inventions and cures we’d have if we nurtured every child’s mind. Every culture has had someone or many people contribute to the advancement of our world. Hating a groups of people or creating oppressive systems for said group is harmful to the world. Why is it so hard to understand? why is it so hard to love?
If love is essential to our existence and majority of us are unable to fulfill and feel that necessity, we are not going to survive. Right now, there is so much opposition without reason. Oh, someone from another ethnic background did something to you once? Instant disgust of all people of that ethnicity!? Maybe it happened more than once. This still doesn’t mean the whole ethnic group is bad.
Across the world, people suffer because of hate and fear of them. The systems in place are based on hate and fear: hate of self and hate or fear of others. People are people and not the sole representative of their culture. Historical hate and fear plays a huge part in some people’s thinking today, but they forget how history has created systems of oppressions we have yet to break away from. Life doesn’t have to be this way.
This is my call to action for people to spread love more than the hate or fear that may bubble up. Psychologically, people are not well and love is the first step towards recovery. Even if the love you spread to is to yourself, spread that love. When you love yourself, love emanates from you.
If no one’s told you today, I love you 🫶🏾
